Melikson not ready to play for Poland
Wisla Krakow midfielder Maor Melikson has decided not to play for the Polish national team for now, but will also turn down a recall by Israel.
"I decided that I'm not ready at the moment to play for Israel or for the Polish national team," Melikson told WislaKrakow.pl
Melikson has dominated Polish media headlines after PZPN announced that Melikson wants to play for the Polish national team.
"This is a personal decision which has nothing to do with the criticism I have faced," said Melikson.
The 26-year old faced an avalanche of criticism in Israel for rejecting his homeland. According to reports, Melikson received death threats via email and text messaging.
"I decided that it would not be fair to the Polish fans if I played in the Polish national team, as well, in the current situation, if I went back to Israel squad," he added.
