Bakero fired as Lech Poznan coach

Jose Mari Bakero has been fired as head coach of Lech Poznan, announced the club's management on Friday.

No replacement has been announced yet but it looks like former Aris Thessaloniki head coach Michal Probierz will take over. Probierz is a free-agent after leaving the Greek club at the beginning of January.

Bakero leaves Lech after 15-months in charge. He took the job in November of 2010 and his debut came against Manchester City in the Europa League. Lech shocked the English club 3-1 in Poznan. However, Lech finished 5th place in the league standings that season and failed to qualify for any European competitions.

This season, Lech have lost seven matches and sit 5th in the league standings. Lech are riding a two-game losing streak since coming off the winter break. They lost 1-0 to GKS Belchatow and 3-0 to Ruch Chorzow on Friday.

  1. It was going to happen anyway. Probierz would be a wise replacement.
