Legia Warszawa eliminated from Europa League
Couple hours after Wisla Krakow saw their Europa League campaign come to an end, Legia Warszawa saw its own run come to an end after a 1-0 lose to Sporting CP.
Just like Wisla, Legia needed to score at least one goal if they wanted to have chance to qualify for the Round of 16. However, it was Matias Fernandez's late free-kick that spoiled the deal and saw Legia go down 1-0.
Legia had their chances to scored but failed. Their best chance came in the 15th minute when Danijel Ljuboja headed just wide of the goal, being one on one with the keeper.
So Legia's run comes to an end. We will not see any Polish clubs in the Round of 16 after both Wisla and Legia failed to defeat their rivals.
Legia: Dusan Kuciak - Artur Jedrzejczyk, Michal Zewlakow, Marcin Komorowski, Jakub Wawrzyniak - Michal Zyro (59. Michal Kucharczyk), Ivica Vrdoljak, Jakub Rzezniczak (69. Rafal Wolski), Janusz Gol (88. Michal Hubnik), Maciej Rybus - Danijel Ljuboja.
