Zaglebie Lubin penalised for corruption

The Disciplinary Department of Polish Football Association will deduct three points from Zaglebie Lubin, following a match-fixing scandal from 2006.

Zaglebie must also pay a 300,000 zloty fine (96,163 dollars), although the club is expected to appeal against the decision. If the decision is not overturned, Zaglebie will start next season with negative 3 points.

Zaglebie players paid Cracovia Krakow players 100,000 zloty (32,024 dollars) to ensure a draw in a match in May 2006 and the result allowed Zaglebie to qualify for the UEFA Cup.16 people were accused, including Poland national team defender Lukasz Piszczek, who played Zaglebie at that time.

The Disciplinary Department is also preparing a decision regarding Cracovia Krakow.
