Boenisch suspended two games
Polish national team defender Sebastian Boenisch was suspended two games after picking up a red card in Werder Bremen's 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday.
Boenisch was making his first start of the season, when in the 27th minute, he picked up a red card after taking down last man Patrick Herrmann just before the penalty box.
According to Werder's sporting director, the club will not appeal the red card.
With four games remaining in the season, Boenisch will miss clashes with Stuttgart and Bayern Munich. He will be available to play in the final two game of the season. Werder play Wolfsburg and Schalke. Werder are still chasing a European spot. They are two points out of the final Europa League spot.

I hope they appeal I feel like a 2 match ban is too much. The red card was bad enough and its not like the challenge cause injury.
ReplyDeleteI dont think hes important enough to Werder Bremen for them to do that though. He needs to be prepared for Euro and a game against Bayern would certainly help
