Lewandowski's winner leads Borussia past Bayern

Robert Lewandowski's game-winner set the tone in Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 win over Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski scored his 20th goal of the season in the 77th minute with a slick back-heel re-direct to beat Manuel Neuer.

With that goal, Lewandowski tied Jan Furtok's record for most goals scored by a Polish player in the Bundesliga. Furtok scored 20 goals in the 1990-1991 season for Hamburger SV.

Lewandowski could have easily added two more goals, but both chances hit the posts. In the 39th minute, Lewandowski's header found the post and then in the 90th minute, of a counter attack, Lewandowski's shots hit the bar.

All three Poles started the game but only Lewandowski and Lukasz Piszczek played the full 90 minutes. Jakub Blaszczykowski came off in the 89th minute.

Here is Lewandowski's 20th goal of the season:

  1. If only those close chances that hit the posts went in... He would have had a hat-trick that would gain him so much attention

  5. The header that hit the post was a great hit, just unfortunate not to go in. Could not have done anything better

The goal was all class, great touch and awareness

The 3rd opportunity he should have scored, did great to beat the keeper but just put too much on the ball and hit the crossbar.

He has been spectacular all season and he is getting better. No footballer has ever converted all his chances but Lewandowski is becoming more and more clinical glad to see him performing so well.

  9. This was a fluke goal, deflected by mistake. It was poorly aimed towards the center, but he got lucky because of the accidental deflection to the edge of the net. Otherwise the goalie could easily have gathered it in.

  11. On second view, I noticed that in fact it was a perfectly directed ball with a very slight nudge on the ball. Beautiful beautiful goal. I did not notice that professional touch the first time I watched it.
