Smuda picks three goalkeepers for Euro

Poland national team head coach Frank Smuda has already decided on which three goalkeepers he will take to Euro 2012.

According to Polish soccer expert Roman Kolton, Smuda will go with Lukasz Fabianski, Wojciech Szczesny and Przemyslaw Tyton. Kolton revealed the information on Polish soccer show Cafe Futbol. The only possible way another goalkeeper slips in is if one of the three goalkeepers suffers an injury.

This means Smuda will not give Tomasz Kuszczak another shot. Kuszczak has impressed since joining Watford on loan. Also, Artur Boruc will not be heading to Euros after having a conflict with Smuda.

What do you think of the three goalkeepers?

  1. Of course we will all say Boruc is missed but Szczesny is still a very good goalkeeper.

Kuszczak is done he still makes mistakes sometimes. I have full faith in Szczesny he has already saved us in some games.

  2. My personal three would be Boruc, Szczesny and Tyton but since there is no way that Smuda would allow this so in my opinion he has 2 of the 3 right. I think I would take Kuszczak over Fabianski in Smuda's case.

  5. Szczesny and Fabianski are by far our best current keepers. Kuszczak is a hot head and cannot be asked to come aboard as a third choice keeper, the same with Boruc, despite myself being a fan of Artur. In the fantasy world of video games you could select Boruc, but in the real world Tomasz and Artur have been shown to be loose cannons when they don't get their way, so better to not have a distraction on the NT.

    1. I disagree with your opinion about Szczesny and Fabianski being by far our best keepers but you do make a point on the loose cannon thing. The only thing is that after all the tension and Smuda's stubbornness I would think Boruc would have improved his behavior. Plus, loose cannons like these tend to be mentally strong in many cases.

  8. This selection does not inspire confidence. Neither Fabianski nor Tyton are good enough to fill in if Szczesny were to get injured. Boruc should have been named as backup. Yes, he probably wouldn't like it but he's served as backup before under previous managers without causing trouble. I think his exclusion is all about Smuda's inability to manage a team.

  9. ^ spot on. very little insurance. boruc is the best polish keeper, szcz is great but surely 2nd best. artur saved the team's ass in the last two tournaments.
