Official: Milik joins Bayer Leverkusen

Polish national team striker Arkadiusz Milik has signed a five-and-a-half year contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

“We have signed Arkadiusz Milik in the face of stiff domestic and international competition. He has already made great progress despite being so young. But we are fully convinced this player can and will develop even further here,” Wolfgang Holzhauser, Bayer managing director, told the team's official website.

Milik will be joining fellow Polish international Sebastian Boenisch. Bayer has one more game remaining before going on a three-week break.

  1. it will be hard, very hard for him.. they should just loan him in Zabrze for the rest of the season and take him next summer..
    Anyway, good luck..

  2. Just don't become the next Janczyk

    1. Janczyk went to Russia, where players go to disappear, especially young ones. The Bundesliga is where young prospects get their chance to shine and cultivate their talents, although probably not the best club for him, he is in the best league for him right now.

  5. RIP Milik. More teams are going to Poland to find cheap young players. He'll rot on the bench, Leverkusen won't care, since 2 million or whatever it was, is peanuts for them.

  6. He better be playing in their last game

  7. Hey guys what do you think Lewy is the second coming of Christ, the guy makes lazy runs and his excellent midfield does all the work and he simply kicks the ball in, for Poland where he is asked to do more he is horrible, lazy and a cry baby. This kid gives it all he has and just for that I'm willing to give him a shot, besides just practicing with such good players will make him better, he is not learning anything in the mickey mouse Ek League. Hell the best of the Ek can't even beat lowly Scandanivian teams which you seen what happened to them

    1. You have no clue what you are talking about. His mid don't give hi any support and he has to make the best of what little he sees the ball. If you are completely clueless, you should read more and post less.

  8. I don't understand how anyone thinks this is a bad thing. Bayer are one of the best youth to senior organizations in the BL, and 2mil is actually a lot of money to spend on an 18yr old. I'm not saying he is a guarantee, but there is absolutely no way he is going to become a worse player.

  9. hey anonymous two up what has Lewy done for Polska scores 2 goals vs San Marino, when he has stats like Ebi Smolarek come back and talk to me. Two vs Portugal, 2 vs Belgium, and don't forget that 3 goals vs Kaz. in one half.

    1. Yeah, Ebi had those goals against Belgium when they were rubbish. Ebi wouldn't even get a sniff of the ball or find space in the box against today's Belgium team.

    2. anonymous is a retard ebi is no where near lewy ,, PERIOD!!! Ebi was decent but had nothing with his club ... Look at Lewy , he won bundesliga player of the year last season, where did Ebi go club wise>??? thats rite suck it bitch

  10. can anyone support Levy he has not scored any big goals for Poland period what do I care what he does in Germany. 1 goal on a perfect set-up for Greece who cares, Lewy put up or shout up for Polska.

  11. Lewandowski doesn't give a shit about anything but money. That's why even though its clear that Dortmund is the best place for him where he can seriously challenge for the Champions League in the next few years and be the star player he wants to rather go to either of the Manchester clubs where he'll probably ride the bench. And he couldn't give less of a shit about the Kadra, he just shows up so not to completely piss off the people back in Poland. This dude is so fake it's ridiculous. He a shame to Poland, Milik is the one to cheer. Along with Kuba and Piszczek some true patriots. Fucking Obraniak probably gives more of a shit than Lewy does.

  12. You cant say he doesnt give a shit about the Polish NT, he is a primadona like most high caliber players. I do agree however, that he should show more passion.

About Dortmund, I think his agent and him thought they could get a ton of money but the BVB fkked them over, now they have no choice but to leave since BVB want to sell him and get a huge boost on profit off of him.

I cant blame Robert nor his agent, for attempting to get most out of his potential, he won player of the year scored 30 goals he deserves to be paid the highest contract and BVB didnt budge, so now hes gonna go EPL and make 5 times the money - good on him , but I hope its a team he can make an impact on.

And about Milik, very excited for him! I think he will just be fine! Bayern will make him better if anything!

  13. some of you have a very basic understanding of football, never mind psychology....

  14. i bet you they had the same conversations and arguments about Boniek in his heyday. 30 years from now we'll look back and call lewy one of the greats. too much pressure for the 24 year old. he's got time to prove himself, and as a high caliber striker, you guys have to understand that its frustrating that he hasn't scored, and he definitely feels responsible for Poland's poor performance at the euro because he couldn't put more goals in. before the tournament, football pundits all over the world were saying that lewy would shine and potentially become a golden boot winner. his time will come. i think all you haters will eat your own words in years to come.

  15. Wow - some very sour comments being made here! A few of you may know I am a sports reporter for a BBC Polish radio show in the UK. I remember a time were one or two player from the national team played abroad - and they were the stars of the team e.g. Zurawski when he went to Celtic or Krzynowek in Germany.

All blogs were filled with complaints as to why Polish players do not attract interest or when they do they stay TOO long in EK and miss their chance. Please do not take this new interest in Polish players for granted or see it as negative!

    1. Seriously, people here have such backward thinking. The best young talent Poland has seen in decades and they're mad the players choose to play abroad where they will receive a better salary, on top of training in better facilities with better coaches. Of course we'd like a strong EK, but people, let's be real. It's best for the national team to have players at big clubs in Spain, England, Germany, etc.

The hate on Lewy is beyond me. The player is still young at 24 and improving his game each year. These posters here would have given up on Van Persie at 24, based on the language and logic being used.

    2. Exactly right! Lewy has so much talent! He scores in big games for Dortmund and has fantastic belief in his own ability! He actually reminds me of Van Persie. The rest of the Polish national side need to step up to the bar set by the Dortmund trio - great inspiration for the youngsters. Hopefully Milik can do the same.

    3. RVP is quite the cunt. Cunts are successful!

  16. Couple things-
    1. Milik will NOT play for Leverkusen prior to their Winter break. He isn't even eligible. He will practice with his squad for the first time Jan 3rd.
    2. His transfer is 3.5 million euros, not 2.

  17. ^^ i agree with the comment about lewandowski. lewandowski is terrible. i dont think he's ever scored past the box. yes, he is our best striker, but that's because we dont have any good ones. Like in the comment above, lewy only scores a lot because of dotmund's great mid. he doesnt know how to dribble and loses the ball like a little kid. dont believe me? than watch one of his games. his career will be over when he goes to england

Every striker loses the ball they usually have 2 defenders on them. But as far as "he doesnt know how to dribble and loses the ball like a little kid" see post from Sunday December 16. Lewy is in a sea of blue shirts dribbles the ball around defenders & goalie and scores a nice goal. When was the last time a Polish player was in competition for leading goal scorer in a top league?

    2. Huntelaar does't score past the box either, you don't see the Dutch complaining or Schalke (for the most part).

Btw, Lewy did have a rocket for the national team a few years ago outside the penalty area (I think it was against Bulgaria??). I would admit Lewy's first touch at times isn't great, but he dribbles fine. I don't understand what you people here want. Messi? Lewy is a pure goal scorer; people have to let go of these fantasies thinking he's going to dribble through the whole pitch like Maradona.

    3. agree with Casimir^ the footballing world recognizes Lewy as an incredible footballer. im pretty sure the opinion of some of these people that are bashing lewy, have very little substance behind them. use some reason.

    4. Lewy can definately dribble, he nutmegged both Badstuber and Gustavo in a single match vs Bayern and he has this trick he always does when hes up against the side line against two defenders that's pretty cool. But I still don't like him as a person, he just seems like a douche. Like when he scores for BVB everyone celebrates with him but when someone else scores he doesn't join in with all the rest of his teammates half the time. Not to mentioned he tried stealing goals off his teamates 3 times this season. It actually worked against Reus once but the other two times his teams ran to celebrate with the real scorer, for example Schmeltzer vs Madrid. This dude is all about himself and is greedy. Many fans are well in their rights to not like him compared to a Kuba. He's like a Ibrahimovic, clearly a very talented player but his personality/ego leaves much to be desired.

    5. Lewy is just trying to be the best he can be. He didnt steal Reus' goal Reus passed it to him. Only goal you could argue him stealing is Gotze's a couple weeks ago. I also forget what that shmelzer steal looked like. Anyway, Lewy seems like a decent guy, not some douchebag at all man. Sure at times he doesnt celebrate with the team too much but most of the time he does

  18. People hating on Lewy have never played pro soccer or even any type of competitive soccer in their lives. Lewy gets praise from people that actually PLAYED the game, not some wannabe's on an Xbox or ps3. Does he have some faults? Yeah. But is he a piece of crap who can't dribble? Hell no.

    1. Took the words out of my mouth, or all these people commenting should be playing or coaching Poland instead since they're so good. Hopefully Milik will be our next Lewy.

    2. Couldn't say it any better. The video game generation has created a group of fans who think just because they can take a player in a video game, dribble 50 yards through 6 defenders and slot it past the goalkeeper using Kamil Kosowski for Belchatow, that it's actually something that can occur regularly in real life...I'd be willing to bet most of the haters never played competitive matches. Not as easy as it looks on TV or PS3.

Lewandowski is one of the most talented strikers in the entire world, and Manchester Utd. would not be chasing him down otherwise..A great striker is most dangerous inside the 18. Which he is.

      Delete
    3. don't hate on Kamil, he was a decent player in his day haha. but i agree with you guys about the video game crap, people who play fifa now think they have authority to talk/commentate to the rest of the world about their supposed football prowess...

  19. Im the biggest fan of lewandowski but i must admit that hes never happy when it isnt he that scores .. Kinda sucks. But WTF guy.. Lewy looses theball a lot? Are you serious? Hes like the striker thAt looses the less balls! And his control is very good.

  22. EBi played 47 times for Poland and scored 20 times anyone that can argue with those stats might know about soccer but doesn't know anything about math. Ebi had a great year when Dortmund one the German league and he also helped them when a secondary cup, whatever you call it. WOW I 've seen highlights of Milik and he really works hard to get the ball and keep the ball and will be a better natioanal team player just for those two things. While Lewy sits there and cries hes not getting the ball or how the defense just touched him.
